Best practices to use the talent pool effectively

Talent pool is not passive storage. It is an action-ready layer that helps HR teams manage promising employees until they are ready for structured development.

1. Add talent with context

HR teams add employees from talent discovery or through bulk upload, along with remarks that capture why the talent matters. These remarks help preserve intent, enable better decision-making, and ensure that anyone reviewing the pool understands why a person was identified.

2. View and manage

The pool displays employees in a searchable, filterable grid. It shows name, role, department, location, who added them, when they were added, and any associated pipelines or criticality indicators.

3. Take action

Adding someone to a pipeline does not remove them from the pool. The pool continues to serve as a broader shortlist.

From the pool, admins act directly to:

  • Add members to pipeline
  • Mark as successor
  • Assign learning
  • Create an IDP
  • Schedule a meet
  • Mark or unmark as critical
  • Remove from pool
