# Configure employee certificate settings

The "Settings" page allows admins to control who can upload certificates, configure expiry notifications, and enable learning certificates sync for the organization.

**📒Note:** By default, managers can upload their direct reports' certificates.

Navigate to **Certificates \> Settings** to configure upload permissions, expiry reminders, and learning sync.

### **Upload permissions**

1. Switch the toggle to allow employees to upload certificates directly from their profile.

This is useful for capturing externally earned certifications (for example, industry credentials, training completions) without requiring admin intervention.

### **Expiry reminders**

Configure automated notifications to alert relevant recipients before a certificate expires.

1. Enter the number of days in advance to trigger the reminder.
2. Open the **Recipients** drop-down and select who receives the expiry notification. Allows multiple recipient selection:

- - Employee (the certificate holder)
    - Manager (the employee's reporting manager)
    - Secondary manager (added in employee’s profile)
    - HR admin

     3.   (Optional) Click **+ Add reminder** to configure additional reminder rules with different time intervals or recipient combinations.

📒 **Note:** Recipients receive this reminder by email only. The link in the email takes the recipient directly to the certificate holder’s profile.

When a certificate reaches its expiry date, its status changes to **Expired** and remains **Expired**. To change the status back to **Active**, extend or remove the certificate’s expiry date.

### **Sync learning certificates**

1. Switch the toggle to sync certificates earned through completed courses and learning paths to the employee profile.

This eliminates manual entry for certificates generated from Engagedly's learning app.
