Create a nurture stream
Admins and managers can create a nurture stream to track how employees are feeling at specific points across their employee journey, rather than on a fixed recurring schedule like a standard pulse.
1. Open nurture
Navigate to Apps → Butterfly EI → Nurture.
- If no nurture stream exists, click Create your first Nurture Stream.
- If a nurture stream already exists, click Add Stream at the top right.
⚠️Warning: If you navigate away from the creation page before submitting the stream, your entries are not saved.
2. Define the audience
- In the “Audience” step, select the team or teams you want to send the nurture stream to. You can select only teams under your management.
- (Optional) Enable Select all Future Sub Teams to automatically include new subteams added under the selected teams in future surveys.
- (Optional) Click Refine audience at the bottom left to further filter the audience.
- Select a field and its corresponding value.
- If you select multiple fields, choose how to apply the filters:
-
- Match every field includes employees who meet all the selected criteria.
- Match any one field includes employees who meet at least one of the selected criteria.
You can filter the audience using various employee fields, such as job title, tenure, age group, gender, department, and business unit.
7. Click Next.
ℹ️Additional information:
- If “Select all Future Sub Teams” is disabled, newly added subteams are not included unless you update the audience selection.
- If employees are synced from Engagedly to Butterfly, they automatically appear in the audience list.
- The default hierarchy in the audience list is Business Unit → Department → Team. The manager's name does not appear directly in the hierarchy. Instead, each team contains a smaller team named after the manager. You can request a change to this hierarchy through your sales or support contact.
3. Name the stream
- Enter a name.
- (Optional) Enter a description. The name and description are visible only to you.
4. Schedule the stream
- Set the start date.
- Open the drop-down and select the base date.
- Click Submit to create the nurture stream.
📒Note: The base date is the fixed date from which all milestones in the stream are calculated.
After creating the stream, add milestones to define when surveys are sent and what questions employees receive based on the selected base date.
A nurture stream is automatically assigned to employees when the configured filters, values, and behavior are met.
After creating the stream, select the nurture event type to send it across the selected audience. For more information, refer to Create a nurture event.
You can manage a stream as required. For more information, refer to Manage a nurture stream.
