Create a Goal

Creating goals provides clarity and direction to the employees in the organization. When goals are clearly defined, employees understand what they need to do to achieve them, which helps them stay focused and motivated. The organization can prioritize its activities and allocate resources by creating goals.

In this article, we have covered how an employee, manager, and admin can create a goal.

Employee to Create a Goal

Employees can create individual goals and assign them to anyone in the organization.

Step 1: Navigate to Home > Goals > My Goals.

Managers to Create a Goal

Managers can create individual goals and assign them to their direct reports or anyone in the organization.

Step 1: Navigate to Teams > Goals > My Team Goals.

Admin to Create a Goal

Admin can create individual and top level goals and assign them to anyone in the organization.

Step 1: Navigate to Admin > Goals > Dashboard.

Create a Goal

  • In the "Add Goal" page, type the goal title and click Add Notes to add notes related to the goal.

  • From the "Assign to" drop-down, search and select the employee to assign the goal.

    Note: By default, the system will include your name as a goal owner.

  • From the "Goal Type" drop-down, select a goal type.
    Note: The above step applies only to admins. Managers and Employees can skip this step while creating a goal.

  • Select a predefined goal period from the "Goal Period" drop-down OR select "Custom" to set the goal start and end date.

  • From the "Measurement Type" drop-down, select "Percentage/Quantity/Milestone."

    Notes:

    • When you select "Percentage," the goal progress can be measured based on the percentage (0 to 100). When a goal reaches 100 percent progress, it is marked as achieved.
    • Select "Quantity" to select a unit type, start value, and end value to achieve the goal, or select "Milestone" to mark the goal as completed once it is achieved.

  • From "Integration," users can import the goal progress data from leading tools like Salesforce, Jira, Google Sheets, and more.

  • Select and select the goal categories under the "Categories" section. categories

  • Select the goal visibility. By default, the goal is visible to everyone. Click Add to include specific department/business unit audiences for the goal.
  • Users can align their goals with any other top level goals in the organization. Click Select a Parent Goal to align the goal.

  • Users can also remove the aligned goal. Click the Overflow Menu Master Component-12-2 Icon and select Remove Alignment.

  • Click Add Attachment to add any file related to the goal.11.png
  • From the "Notify Assignee" drop-down, select the time interval to send a reminder notification to the goal owner.NOTIFY
  • Users can also discuss the goal with others. Under the "Discuss with or add a comment" section, type '@', mention the name to discuss the goal, and click Submit.

  • Users can edit or delete the comment, click the Overflow Menu Master Component-12-4 Icon, and select Edit/Delete.

  • Create a key result for your parent goal and assign it to yourself or others. Type your key results title in the "Add a Key Result" box.
    Note: Creating Key Results is optional. Users can skip this step if Key Result is not required for the goal. 
  • Hold and drag the key results to reorder them as required.
  • Click Publish to publish the goal. 

Use Marissa AI

After typing the goal title, you can click Marissa Icon, which suggests the goal title and key results based on your goal title. You can edit them and regenerate as required.
