Manage assignments in a survey
After creating assignments in surveys, authors can manage them as required.
📒Note: You can share only the general survey with external respondents.
⚠️Warning: Adding respondents after sharing the survey may affect previously collected responses.
Manage assignments
Navigate to Apps > Surveys.
- Scroll down to All Surveys.
- Open a survey where you want to manage assignments.
- Go to the Assignments tab.
- Click the Overflow
Menu on an assignment and select the required action:
-
- Edit: Update the assignment title, end date (if available), and other settings.
- Respondents: Add or remove respondents. Learn more in Manage respondents in a survey.
- Recurrence: Schedule the assignment recurrence or customize it as required.
- Close: End the assignment.
- Open: Reopen a closed assignment at any time. This removes the end date and makes the assignment available for respondents again. (Available only after closing an assignment.)
- Delete: Permanently remove an assignment.

Additional options
The above options apply to all four assignment types. However, the following additional options are available for specific assignment types:
- Post the survey on social: Select Share to share the assignment with respondents.
- Generate a public URL: Select Copy URL to copy and share the assignment with internal and external respondents.
⚠️Warning: Closing or deleting an assignment stops response collection and disrupts associated workflows.
ℹ️Additional information:
- While editing an assignment, you can:
- Edit the start date if it has not passed yet.
- Edit the end date even if it has already passed.
- Remove the end date by clearing the “End Date” field.
- Recurrence allows you to share the survey at regular intervals. You can schedule recurrence as “Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-Annually, Annually, or Custom”.

- After closing an assignment, its status appears as ”ENDED”, indicating that response collection has stopped.
- After reopening the assignment, its status appears as ”ACTIVE”.
