Manage assignments in a survey

After creating assignments in surveys, authors can manage them as required.

📒Note: You can share only the general survey with external respondents.

⚠️Warning: Adding respondents after sharing the survey may affect previously collected responses.

Manage assignments

Navigate to Apps > Surveys.

  1. Scroll down to All Surveys.
  2. Open a survey where you want to manage assignments.
  3. Go to the Assignments tab.
  4. Click the Overflow Overflow Menu-Nov-20-2023-05-10-31-0841-AM Menu on an assignment and select the required action:
    • Edit: Update the assignment title, end date (if available), and other settings.
    • Respondents: Add or remove respondents. Learn more in Manage respondents in a survey.
    • Recurrence: Schedule the assignment recurrence or customize it as required.
    • Close: End the assignment.
    • Open: Reopen a closed assignment at any time. This removes the end date and makes the assignment available for respondents again. (Available only after closing an assignment.)
    • Delete: Permanently remove an assignment.

Additional options

The above options apply to all four assignment types. However, the following additional options are available for specific assignment types:

  • Post the survey on social: Select Share to share the assignment with respondents.
  • Generate a public URL: Select Copy URL to copy and share the assignment with internal and external respondents.

⚠️Warning: Closing or deleting an assignment stops response collection and disrupts associated workflows.

ℹ️Additional information:

  • While editing an assignment, you can:
    • Edit the start date if it has not passed yet.
    • Edit the end date even if it has already passed.
    • Remove the end date by clearing the “End Date” field.
  • Recurrence allows you to share the survey at regular intervals. You can schedule recurrence as “Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-Annually, Annually, or Custom”.
  • When assignments recur, they appear below the parent assignment with automatic numbering. This numbering indicates how many times the assignment has occurred.
  • After closing an assignment, its status appears as ”ENDED”indicating that response collection has stopped.
  • After reopening the assignment, its status appears as ”ACTIVE”.
