# Manage a goal

Goal creators, assigners, and owners can manage goals to keep them updated and aligned with changing priorities. You can edit goal details, track progress, add key results or tasks, and make adjustments as required to ensure the goal remains clear, relevant, and achievable.

**📒Note:** Clear any applied filters before leaving the page. Otherwise, the same filtered results appear when you return.

Navigate to **Apps \> Goals.**

Perform the following actions based on your role and the goal you prefer to manage:

| **Role** | **Navigation** |
| --- | --- |
| Goal owner (Individual goal) | **My Goals \>** **My Goals** tab. |
| Goal assigner (Individual goal) | **My Goals \> Assigned by** **Me** tab. |
| Admin (Top-level goal) | Go to **Top Level Goals**. |
| Admin (Individual goal) | Select **My Org \>** Select an employee. |
| Manager (Direct report’s goal) | Select a team **\>** Select an employee. |

1. Click a goal to open the "Goal Details" page.

The goal cards appear on the left, and the selected goal details appear on the right.

     2.  All fields on the page support in-line editing. Click a field and update it as required.

### **Actions you can perform**

#### **Directly on the goal details page**

- Click the goal title, modify it, and then click the **Tick ![Grey Tick-1](https://help.engagedly.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Grey%20Tick-1.png?width=20&height=20&name=Grey%20Tick-1.png)** icon to save.
- Click **Align**, select a tab, hover over the desired goal, and click **Align**. Learn more in [Align an individual goal](https://help.engagedly.com/align-an-individual-goal?hsLang=en).
- Click the goal duration, measurement type, or visibility to edit them.
- Click **Add Followers** to include people in the goal. Learn more in [Add and manage goal followers](https://help.engagedly.com/follow-a-goal?hsLang=en).

**📒Note:** The goal creator, assigner, or owner cannot follow a goal, as they are already directly associated with it.

- Click the number of followers to view, remove, or add more followers.
- Click **Add Categories**, open the drop-down, select categories, and click **Save**.
- Click **Attachments** to upload relevant files.
- Click **Update** on the right side of a goal to update its progress, including all key results.
- Hover over the status of the key result and click **Update**, make the necessary updates, and click **Save**. Learn more in [Add and manage key results](https://help.engagedly.com/add-and-manage-key-result?hsLang=en).

#### **From the overflow menu**

Click the **Overflow ![Overflow Menu-2](https://help.engagedly.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Overflow%20Menu-2.png?width=20&height=20&name=Overflow%20Menu-2.png) Menu** at the top right of a goal.

- **Edit:** Modify goal details, add key results or contributing goals, or [cascade the goal](https://help.engagedly.com/cascade-a-goal?hsLang=en). Refer to [Edit goal details](https://help.engagedly.com/edit-goal-details?hsLang=en).
- **Copy and Assign:** Create a copy of the goal (with or without key results) and assign it to multiple employees. Refer to [Copy and assign a goal](https://help.engagedly.com/copy-and-assign-a-goal?hsLang=en).
- **Change Owner:** Assign a new goal owner or assigner. Refer to [Change goal owner](https://help.engagedly.com/change-goal-owner?hsLang=en).
- **Reorder Goals:** Change the order of key results within a goal. Refer to [Reorder goals](https://help.engagedly.com/reorder-goals?hsLang=en).
- **Manage Weights:** Enable weights for key results to define how each key result contributes to the goal’s overall progress. Refer to [Manage goal weights](https://help.engagedly.com/manage-goal-weights?hsLang=en).

- **Add to Meeting:** Add the goal to a meeting for discussion with stakeholders or team members. Refer to [Add a goal to meeting](https://help.engagedly.com/add-a-goal-to-meeting?hsLang=en).

- **Lock or Unlock:** Lock the goal to restrict editing, archiving, managing weights, changing the owner, or deleting it. Refer to [Lock or unlock a goal](https://help.engagedly.com/lock-or-unlock-a-goal?hsLang=en).

- **Archive:** Hides the goal from active views, making it no longer visible in your current goal list. Refer to [Archive a goal](https://help.engagedly.com/archive-a-goal?hsLang=en).

- **Convert To Top Level:** Convert individual goal to a top level goal. Refer to Convert a goal to the top level.

- **Nudge:** Send a reminder to the owner or contributors. Refer to [Nudge the goal owner](https://help.engagedly.com/nudge-the-goal-owner?hsLang=en).
- **Request Feedback:** Request feedback on a goal. Refer to [Request and share feedback on a goal](https://help.engagedly.com/request-and-share-feedback-on-a-goal?hsLang=en).
- **Share Feedback:** Provide feedback on a goal to the goal owner. Refer to [Request and share feedback on a goal](https://help.engagedly.com/request-and-share-feedback-on-a-goal?hsLang=en).
- **Public Praise:** Recognize the goal owner’s achievements within the organization's social forum. Refer to [Praise the goal owner](https://help.engagedly.com/praise-the-goal-owner?hsLang=en).

- **Remove Alignment:** Detach the goal from the parent goal. Refer to [Remove goal alignment](https://help.engagedly.com/align-an-individual-goal#remove-alignment).
- **View Hierarchy:** Understand how a goal is organized with its key results, contributors, and aligned goals. Refer to [View goal hierarchy](https://help.engagedly.com/view-goal-hierarchy?hsLang=en).

- **Delete:** Remove the goal permanently. Refer to [Delete a goal](https://help.engagedly.com/delete-a-goal?hsLang=en).
