Set rater groups and rollup rules in 360 feedback
Rater groups determine which relationships are pre-configured for participants when their reviews start. This means feedback comes from the right people without anyone choosing groups each time. Roll-up rules protect respondents' anonymity: if a group does not meet the visibility threshold, its feedback is combined with another group.
If you saved the cycle earlier and want to continue the configuration:
Navigate to Apps > 360 Feedback > Cycles.
- Open your 360 feedback cycle.
- Scroll down to the Reports section.
Default rater groups
Default rater groups are pre-configured relations. By default, every cycle includes the system-defined rater groups. You cannot remove them, and they do not need manual mapping.
- Self: The system identifies the respondent as the participant, enabling self-assessment.
- Manager: The system identifies the respondent as the participant's manager, which is auto-mapped from the organization hierarchy.
- Others: The system identifies respondents who do not select a specific relationship with the participant or do not match a system-identified relationship.
Add more rater groups
- Under Rater groups & roll up rules, click Add group.
- Select from:
-
- Peers: Co-workers who work alongside the participant.
- Direct Reports: Team members who report to the participant.
- Add custom: Enter a name for the relationship name in the text box and click Add. When a custom group is added, respondents must select a relationship when they fill in the review.
📒Note: If no custom relation exists, “Others” is selected by default. If a custom relation exists, you must select a relation.
Set rollup rules
Rollup rules set the minimum number of responses a rater group needs before its feedback appears as a separate group in the report. If a group does not meet the visibility threshold, its feedback moves into the group you select.
Each rater group appears as a row in the table with the following columns:
- Combine: Applies the rule to the selected rater group.
- Source: Indicates whether the rater group is system-defined or custom-created.
- With: Combines the rater group's feedback with the selected group when the response count falls below the threshold. Select Do not rollup to always report the group separately.
- If less than: Sets the minimum number of responses required to report the group separately.
To set a rule
- In the row for a rater group, open the dropdown in the WITH column and select the target group. If you select Do not rollup,
- In If less than, enter the minimum number of responses.
- Repeat for each group you want to protect.
Group the relations
- Use the toggle to enable Group all rater groups under "All" if any threshold is not met to combine all responses under “All” if any rater group does not meet its threshold. To enable this setting, set all rater groups to “Do not rollup”.
Save the configuration (Optional)
After you configure the rater groups and rollup rules, review the settings.
Do one of the following:
- (Optional) Click Preview at the bottom right to review how the configuration appears to participants and respondents.
- Click Save to save your progress and return later.
- Continue to the next step of the cycle setup by configuring anonymity and the calculation type. For more information, refer to Configure anonymity in 360 feedback.
ℹ️Additional information:
- You cannot roll up Self or Manager(s). The With and If less than columns show n/a for these groups.
- You cannot roll a group into Self.
- You cannot roll groups into each other. The system checks each rule against the group's own response count.
- When you roll one group into another, the report shows only the target group's name.
- Respondents must select a custom relationship when they give feedback. Use custom groups only when you need respondents to explicitly select the relationship.
