Understand Butterfly EI
What is Butterfly EI?
Butterfly EI is Engagedly's employee engagement and continuous listening application. It helps organizations capture frequent, anonymous feedback from employees, visualize the resulting insights on interactive dashboards, and equips managers with the tools to improve engagement, productivity, and well-being. The platform is especially well suited to deskless, frontline, and geographically distributed teams, since it supports delivery channels beyond the desktop, including SMS, shared kiosks, and mobile devices.
Overview
The overview dashboard is the home screen for Butterfly EI. It surfaces real-time visibility into mood score and response rate, complete with trend lines across recent weeks and team-by-team comparisons. From here, managers, HR leaders, and executives can drill into the underlying participation data, including total participation, mood-only responses, fully completed responses, and comments received, giving them the actionable, data-informed view they need to act quickly.
Pulse
Pulse surveys are short, recurring engagement surveys, delivered on a regular cadence, that track key drivers such as mood, accomplishment, and accountability. Results are grouped by team in a heatmap view showing response rate, mood score, and driver-level scores side by side, helping HR leaders and managers continuously monitor workforce sentiment, spot emerging risks early, and take proactive steps to protect team performance and retention. Each pulse report also surfaces open comments and follow-up feedback, so leaders can act on qualitative input as well as the scores. For more information, refer to What is the pulse?.
Instant Feedback
Instant Feedback lets managers and HR teams launch quick, customizable one-time surveys on a specific topic, such as a policy update or an organizational change, and target them to a chosen team or department. Questions can be single/multiple-choice or open comments, and each survey's dashboard tracks how many people were reached, how many responded, and how many questions were included, so teams can capture real-time sentiment and respond swiftly to emerging concerns. For more information, refer to What is instant feedback?.
Nurture
Nurture journeys are built as automated "streams" that trigger surveys at key employee lifecycle milestones, such as onboarding, work anniversaries, or role transitions. Each stream can include multiple milestone events, be scoped to specific teams, and be refined with filters, giving HR teams and managers a way to monitor the employee experience at critical moments, address concerns early, and strengthen long-term engagement.
Yearly
Yearly surveys are comprehensive, organization-wide engagement assessments that can be created, toggled on or off, and reviewed through a dedicated report view. They provide long-term trend analysis and cultural insights that support leadership and HR in strategic workforce planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Exit Surveys
Exit surveys systematically collect structured feedback during offboarding. Multiple exit surveys can be configured and run at once, each with its own report, enabling HR and leadership teams to analyze attrition patterns, identify root causes of turnover, and improve retention strategies.
