Configure skill framework

Only admins can configure the skill framework for the organization, allowing employees to add custom skills.

Navigate to Apps > Growth.

On the left pane, click Settings at the bottom left.

On the TALENT MANAGEMENT page, go to the Skills Framework field.

Notes:

  • If you already have skills created in your organization, they are saved as uncategorized.
  • Click Manage in the Skill taxonomy field and add a category to organize skills effectively.
  • If you have existing skill categories, you can move uncategorized skills into them. You can also reassign skills to different categories or subcategories as required for better organization and alignment with career paths.

Skills framework

A skills framework is a structured system that defines, categorizes, and standardizes skills across roles and departments within an organization. This helps in simplifying talent assessment and development.

Toggle the button to enable the skills framework, then perform the following actions.

Proficiency scale

A proficiency scale defines expertise levels for a competency, aiding skill gaps, development, and talent planning.

Add and manage proficiency level

You can add and manage proficiency levels at any time to assess current abilities and set targets for improvement.

Predefined proficiency scale

Create a custom proficiency scale

In the Proficiency scale field, click View recommended scales and then click Use this to apply.

  1. In the Proficiency scale field, click Add your own, title the type, and description for each level.
  2. Click + Add to add levels or the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.
  3. Click Create when the scale is ready.

Once created, you cannot delete the scale. However, you can edit it.

Click Manage, make necessary changes, and click Save.

Skill taxonomy

A skill taxonomy is a structured classification system that organizes skills into categories and subcategories based on their relevance and relationships.

In the Skill taxonomy field, perform one of the following:

Create category

Import category

Bulk upload skills and categories

Click Manage to create custom skill categories and subcategories.

Learn more in the Add and manage skill category.

Click View Engagedly Library, select the desired skills, and click Import to add predefined skills.

  • Click Upload and then click Sample file to download the skills template.
  • Open the downloaded file, enter the required information, and save the file.
  • Return to the Engagedly site, click Upload, and then click Import.

After importing skill categories, you can edit them at any time.

Add and manage skill category

A skill category is a broad grouping of related skills based on function, making it easier to organize and manage skills within an organization.

Follow the steps to create custom skill categories:

  1. Click Add Category at the top right.
  2. Type the title and description of the category and click Add to save it.

Manage skill category

All fields support inline editing.

  • Click a category to edit the title and description.
  • After making edits, click the Tick Grey Tick-1 Icon to save it.
  • Hover over a category and click the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.

Add and manage subcategory

After adding a skill category, add subcategories to it.

Skill subcategory enables detailed tracking and development of specific capabilities within a broader skill set.

  1. In the SUB CATEGORY field of a category, click the Plus plus grey Icon.
  2. Type the title and description of the subcategory and click Add to save it.

Manage subcategory

All fields support inline editing.

  • Click the subcategory to edit the title and description.
  • After making edits, click the Tick Grey Tick Icon to save it.
  • Hover over the subcategory and click the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.

Add and manage skill

Adding skills helps assess, develop, and align employee capabilities with organizational requirements.

After adding a subcategory, add skills to it.

  1. Click Add on the right side of the subcategory.
  2. Type the skill name and press enter on your keyboard to save it.
  3. Click Save to finalize.

Manage skill

  • Click a skill to edit the title and description, and then click the Tick Grey Tick Icon to save.
  • Hover over a skill and click the Overflow Overflow Menu-Nov-20-2023-05-10-31-0841-AM Menu on the right.
  • Select Move, select a category, and click Move to relocate the skill.
  • Select Delete and click Delete to remove the skill.

Import skills

You can import skills from the predefined Engagedly library or an Excel file.

Engagedly library

Excel

  1. Click Import and select Engagedly Library.
  2. In the search bar, search for a skill by name, category, or subcategory.
  3. Select a category and a subcategory on the left.
  4. By default, all skills in the subcategory are selected.
  5. Deselect them as required and click Import at the top right.
  1. Click Import and select Excel.
  2. Click the Sample file to download the skills template.
  3. Open the downloaded file, enter the required information, and save the file.
  4. Return to the Engagedly site, click Upload, and then click Import.


Enable skill

You can enable skills for Engagedly’s Growth and Learning modules.

Select Growth, Learning, or both.

📒Note: The Learning option is not available if you are not an active subscriber to Engagedly’s Learning module.
