Configure career framework

Only admins can configure the career framework for the organization.

Navigate to Apps > Growth.

On the left pane, click Settings at the bottom left.

On the TALENT MANAGEMENT page, scroll down to the Career Framework field.

📒Notes:

  • If you already have jot titles created in your organization, they are saved as uncategorized.
  • Click Manage in the Job titles field and add a job function, followed by a job family, and then a job title to organize job titles effectively.
  • If you have existing job families, you can move uncategorized job titles into them. You can also reassign job titles to different job families or job functions as required for better organization and alignment with career paths.

Career framework

A career framework is a structured system that defines roles, responsibilities, and career progression within an organization.

Toggle the button to enable the career framework and perform the following actions.

Add and upload job title

In the Job titles field, perform one of the following:

Add job title

Bulk upload job titles, functions, and families

Click Manage to create custom skill categories and subcategories.

  • Click Upload, and then click the Sample file to download the job titles template.
  • Open the downloaded file, enter the required information, and save the file.
  • Return to the Engagedly site, click Upload, and then click Import.

Import job title

You can import job titles by uploading an Excel file.

  1. Click Import and select Excel.
  2. Click the Sample file to download the job titles template.
  3. Open the downloaded file, enter the required information, and save the file.
  4. Return to the Engagedly site, click Upload, and then click Import.

Add and manage job levels

Job levels represent the hierarchy of roles within an organization, categorizing positions based on experience, responsibility, and impact.

In the Job levels field, perform one of the following:

Predefined proficiency scale

Create custom proficiency scale

In the Job levels field, click View recommended scales and then click Use this to apply.

  1. In the Job levels field, click Add your own, title the type, and description for each level.
  2. Click + Add to add levels or the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.
  3. Click Create when the scale is ready.

Once created, you cannot delete the scale. However, you can edit it.

Click Manage, make necessary changes, and click Save.

Add and manage career path category

Career Paths (CP) are structured roadmaps that guide professional growth, offering both linear and diverse routes to achieve career goals.

Career path categories help organize career growth opportunities, making it easier for employees to navigate their progression while ensuring alignment with business goals. It provides clarity, structure, and customization for different roles.

💡Tip: If you have not created career path categories, you can get started. If they are already, you can manage them as required.

Add CP category

  1. In the Career paths field, click Add your own and then click Get Started.
  2. Type the title and click Add.

Manage CP category

All fields support inline editing.

  • Click a CP category to edit the title.
  • After making edits, click the Tick Grey Tick-1 Icon to save it.
  • Hover over the CP category and click the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.

You can add multiple CP categories. Click Add CP Category at the top right.

Add and manage job function

You can configure job functions by categorizing them into job families and assigning relevant job titles.

  1. In the Job titles field, click Manage.
  2. Click Add Job Function at the top right.
  3. Type the title and description of the job function and click Add to save it.

Manage job function

  • Click a job function to edit the title and description.
  • After making edits, click the Tick Grey Tick Icon to save it.
  • Hover over the job function and click the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.

Add and manage job family

After adding a job function, add job families to it.

  1. In the JOB FAMILIES field of a job function, click the Plus plus grey Icon.
  2. Type the title and description of the job family and click Add to save.

Manage job family

  • Click a job family to edit the title and description.
  • After making edits, click the Tick Grey Tick Icon to save.
  • Hover over the job family and click the Delete Delete Grey Icon to remove it.

Add and manage job title

After adding a job family, add titles to each family. You can add multiple job titles to a job family.

  1. Click Add on the right side of a job family.
  2. Type the job title and press enter on your keyboard to save.
  3. Click Save to finalize.

Manage job title

  • Click a job title to edit.
  • After making edits, click the Tick Grey Tick Icon to save.
  • Hover over a job title and click the Overflow Overflow Menu-Nov-20-2023-05-10-31-0841-AM Menu on the right.
  • Select Move, select the job family, and click Move to relocate the job title.
  • Select Delete and click Delete to remove the job title.

Add and manage career path

After adding a CP category, you can add career paths to it.

Add career path

  1. In the CAREER PATHS field, click the Plus Icon.
  2. Type the title and description.
  3. Select a CP Type and click Add.
  • Individual Contributor (IC): Roles focused on independent work without managerial responsibilities.
  • Management: Roles involving team leadership and decision-making.
  • None: Choose this if the category doesn’t fit IC or Management.

Manage career path

Hover over the career path and click the Overflow Overflow Menu-Oct-11-2023-07-43-45-1628-AM Menu for additional actions:

    • Edit: Modify the career path title, description, and CP type.
    • Assign to Members: Assign the career path to individual or multiple employees.
    • Assign to Groups: Assign the career path to a group.
    • Details: A list of skills and competencies linked to job titles within the organization is available for reference and management.
    • Move: Relocate the career path to another CP category.
    • Delete: Remove the career path.

    View an overview of the career path, including a linear progression of job roles required to achieve it.

    Each role specifies the necessary skills and competencies, along with their required proficiency levels. If skill levels are not required, "NA" is displayed. All representative behaviors for competencies associated with a job title are listed. You can edit or delete the career path as required.

    Map job title to career path

    After creating career paths, add job titles to them.

    Hover over the level next to a career path and click Add Job Title.

    Search and select a job title and click Add.

    Hover over the mapped job title at each level and click the Delete Overflow Menu-4 Icon to remove it.

    Map job title to skills and competencies

    Click skills or competencies below a job title to navigate to its respective section and map the required attributes.

    View different tabs: Requirement &Responsibilities, Map Skills, Map Competencies, and Summary.

    Navigate to each tab for additional actions:

    • Requirement & Responsibilities: Manually type job requirements and responsibilities, or click the Marissa Marissa 5@2x (2) Icon to generate them automatically.
    • Map Skills: Assign relevant skills to the job title and set a proficiency level.
    • Map Competencies: Assign relevant competencies to the job title and set a proficiency level.
    • Summary: Provides a clear overview of how the job title is mapped to skills and competencies, including its requirements and responsibilities. 

    When employees select a career path, they can view these details to understand the required skills, competencies, and responsibilities.
