# Manage the Goals of employees

Managers can manage any Goals of their Direct reports, Secondary team, and Entire team.

***Note:*** *Managers can only manage the Secondary team if they are the Goal assigner.*

You can manage the following actions in a Goal:

***Note:*** *Employees can also manage these actions in any Goals only if they are the Goal assigner.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

    1.    Click the **Filter ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/5WmO_FoMBiJco45jtaN0CAa_pkJDAfnvayRN2n-_uKpPgUgn4mOpKdO6cdC3kK8ejU_lS3e78PX6J9xq2echSr3TiakdKTlVb5GTpq4310wydpG0b7S04laJ2TJMkULbFhaObpC4zGdZkw5CWXBJrA) Icon** and select the required team from the drop-down menu.

***Note:*** *By default, you can view My Team Goals.*

### **Edit a Goal**

After a Goal is created, you can edit your direct report’s Goals and its Key Results as required.

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to edit.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Edit**.
3. In the *Edit Goal Details* window, make the necessary changes and click **Save**.

### **Lock or unlock a Goal**

You can lock or unlock your direct report’s Goal whenever required. However, you cannot change the Goal details if they are locked.

***Note:*** *Admins can also lock or unlock any Goal in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

#### **Lock a Goal**

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to lock.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Lock**.

#### **Unlock a Goal**

- Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Unlock**.

### **Change the status of a Goal**

Archiving a Goal will remove the Goal from the active Goal list. Changing the status does not impact the progress of the Goal. It can be activated at any time.

***Note:*** *Admins can also change any Goal status in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

#### **Change the status to archive**

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to make archive.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Archive**.

#### **Change the status to active**

2. ### **Manage weights for the Key Results**

Adding weights to Key Results ensures that each Key Result to the contributing Goal is given the appropriate attention and effort based on importance.

***Note:*** *Admins can also add weights for any Goals in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to add weights.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Manage Weights**.
3. In the *Manage Weights* window, select **Enable Weights** and add the weights for each Key Result.  
   Or  
   You can add the weight for one Key Result and click **Distribute Remaining** to equally distribute the remaining weights to other Key Results.
4. Click **Save**.

***Note:***

- *You can only add weights if Key Results are added to the Goal.*
- *The total weight distribution must be equal to 100%.*

### **Reorder Goals and/or Key Results**

You can reorder the Goals and/or Key Results of your direct report if required.

Navigate to **Home \> Goals \> My Goals \> Owned by Me**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to reorder.
2. Click the **Overflow ![Overflow Menu-Nov-20-2023-05-10-31-0841-AM](https://help.engagedly.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Overflow%20Menu-Nov-20-2023-05-10-31-0841-AM.png?width=20&height=20&name=Overflow%20Menu-Nov-20-2023-05-10-31-0841-AM.png)Menu** at the top right, and select **Reorder Goals**.
3. In the *Reorder Goals* window, drag the **Six Dots ![Group 6-2](https://help.engagedly.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Group%206-2.png?width=20&height=20&name=Group%206-2.png) Icon** to rearrange the Goals and/or Key results as required and click **SAVE**.

### **Change the owner and/or assigner of a Goal**

You can reassign a Goal of your direct report to other employees in the organization. 

***Note:*** *Admins can also reassign any Goal to other employees in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to change the owner and assigner.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Change Owner**.
3. In the *Change Owner / Assigner* window, search and select the employee, and click **Save**.

### **View the hierarchy of a Goal**

Viewing the Goals and Key Results hierarchy helps you understand how your direct report’s Goals are aligned and contribute to other Goals in the organization.

***Note:*** *Admins can also view any Goal hierarchy in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to view in the hierarchy.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **View Hierarchy**.
3. In the *Hierarchy* window, you can view the aligned and contributing Goals.

### **Nudge Goal Owner**

The nudge is a reminder sent to the Goal owners to take action towards achieving their Goals.

***Note:*** *Admins can also nudge any Goal owner in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to nudge.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Nudge**.
3. In the *NUDGE* window, select the Goal owner, type your message, and click **Nudge**.

### **Request feedback about a Goal**

### **Share feedback about a Goal**

### **Public praise of the Goal owner**

Public praise is a feature that allows you to give positive feedback to your team members for their work and contributions. Learn more in [Publicly praise the Goal owner](https://help.engagedly.com/publicly-praise-the-goal-owner?hsLang=en).

### **Clone a Goal**

Cloning a Goal allows you to copy the Goal details and Key Results and edit them as required. 

***Note:*** *Admins can also clone a Goal and assign it to other employees in the organization.*

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to clone.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Clone**.
3. In the *Clone* window, edit the Goal title if required and click the **Drop-down menu** to change the owner.

***Note:*** *By default, the cloned Goal owner will be the Goal owner. You can assign it to the same or any other employee.*

    4.    Click the **Drop-down menu** to set the Goal period and measurement type, and select **Only                    the Goal**.

***Note:*** *If you select Goal with Key Results, all the Key Results associated with the Goal will be cloned.*

    5.    Click **Clone**.

### **Delete a Goal**

You can delete your direct report’s Goals if they are not required. 

***Note:*** *Admins can also delete any Goals in the organization.* 

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

1. Select an employee and select the Goal you want to delete.
2. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** at the top right and select **Delete**.

***Note:*** *Deleting a Goal may impact the progress of dependent Goals, if any.*

### **Manage the Key Results**

You can manage any Key Results of your direct reports and perform the following actions:

Navigate to **Teams \> Goals \> My Team Goals**.

- Select an employee and select the Goal you want to manage the Key Results.

#### **Edit a Key Result**

You can edit the Key Result's titles, owners, start and end dates, and measurement types whenever required.

1. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** and select **Edit**.
2. In the *Edit Key Result Details* windows, make the necessary changes and click **Save**.

#### **Change Owner/Assigner of a Key Result**

If a Key Result requires collaboration between multiple employees, then the Key Result owner and assigner can reassign the Key Result to other employees to foster communication and collaboration.

1. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** and select **Change Owner**.
2. In the *Change Owner / Assigner* window, search and select the user, and click **Save**.

#### **View the hierarchy of a Key Result**

Viewing the Key Results hierarchy helps you understand how the Key Results are aligned and contribute to the organization's Goals.

1. Select the Key Result, click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu**, and select **View Hierarchy**.
2. In the *Hierarchy* window, you can view the Key Results aligned with the parent Goal.

#### **Convert a Key Result into a Goal**

You can convert an existing Key Result into a Goal.

***Note:*** *You can convert a Key Result into a Goal only when the admin enables this feature.*

1. Click the **Overflow ![](https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/skafdqpwyK4epi5owwJb6Gfbafi3ASAeTjrNWL7a1O0jGN-EbE0trPLM7J5nFeQfXMk2vm2WBEsBUrcmLuwuKvEjDYCaxufY2lQW9sKI_kgYcZfvrxwcZWd8hCb0kCy6PaI1yVkrVAY-)Menu** and select **Convert to Goal & Cascade**.
2. Modify the Goal details, such as the Goal title, period, and measurement type, and click **Save**.
