1. Introduction

Goals provide direction and purpose, helping individuals and organizations stay focused and measure progress to achieve success. Goals can be short-term or long-term, defined in a clear and quantifiable format so that progress can be tracked and evaluated.

1.1 How does it work

  1. You create a Top Level Goal or individual Goal.
  2. Fill the Goal details such as Goal period, measurement type, and set visibility.
  3. You can add Key Results to the Goals, if required.
  4. You can assign the Goal to selected employees.
  5. The assignee receives a notification.
  6. The assignee updates their progress to complete the Goal within the Goal period.

2. Configure Goals Settings

You can manage the following features:

  • Settings
  • Unit Types
  • Goal Categories

2.1. Settings

The Goal Settings provides options to activate the following features for the employees:

Navigate to Settings > Goals > Settings.

  • Enable Goal Visibility 
  • Enable Goal Status
  • Enable Top Level Goals
  • Enable Alignment
  • Enable Reward points for Goals
  • Enable Preset Goal Cycles
  • Enable Key Results to Goal conversion

2.2. Unit Types

The Goal Unit Types allow employees to measure the Goal progress in quantity and set the target values to achieve the Goal. Learn more in Configure Goals Settings.

Navigate to Settings > Goals > Unit Types.

2.3. Goal Categories

The Goal Categories help the employees categorize Goals to enhance their searchability. Learn more in Configure Goals Settings.

Navigate to Settings > Goals > Goal Categories.

3. Import Goals

You can bulk import Goals using a template. Learn more in Import Goals.

Navigate to Admin > Goals > Dashboard.

4. Create a Goal

You can create Top Level and individual Goals and assign them to anyone in the organization. Learn more in Create a Top Level Goal.

Under the Top Level Goals, you can create:

  • Organization Goals
  • Business Goals
  • Department Goals

Navigate to Admin > Goals.

5. Manage any Goal in the organization

You can manage any Goal in the organization and perform the following actions in a Goal:

  • Edit a Goal
  • Lock and unlock a Goal
  • Change the status of a Goal
  • Manage weights for the Key Results
  • Change the owner and assigner of a Goal
  • View the hierarchy of a Goal
  • Nudge Goal owner
  • Request feedback about a Goal
  • Share feedback about a Goal
  • Publicly praise the Goal owner
  • Clone a Goal
  • Delete a Goal

Navigate to Admin > Goals > Top Level Goals.

5.1. Edit a Goal

After creating a Goal, you can edit the Goal and the Key Results as required.

Note: You can only edit the Goal if you are the Goal assigner or the Goal owner.

5.2. Lock and unlock a Goal

You can lock and unlock any Goal in the organization whenever required. However, you cannot change the Goal details if they are locked. However, the Goal owner and the Goal assigner can unlock it and make changes. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal.

5.3. Change the status of a Goal

Archiving a Goal will remove the Goal from the active Goal list. Changing the status does not impact the progress of the Goal. It can be activated at any time. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal.

5.4. Manage weights for the Key Results

Adding weights ensures that each Key Result to the contributing Goal is given the appropriate attention and effort based on importance. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal.

Note: You can only add weights if Key Results are added to the Goal.

5.5. Change the owner and assigner of a Goal

You can reassign a Goal to other employees in the organization. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal

5.6. View the hierarchy of a Goal

Viewing the Goals and Key Results hierarchy helps you understand how the Goals are aligned and contribute to other Goals in the organization. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal

5.7. Nudge Goal Owner

The nudge is a reminder sent to the Goal owners to take action towards achieving their Goals. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal

5.8. Request feedback about a Goal

You can request feedback about a Goal from other employees in the organization. Learn more in Request and share feedback about a Goal. Learn more in Request and share feedback about a Goal.

5.9. Share feedback about a Goal

Sharing feedback about a Goal enables the employees to understand their strengths and areas of development of their Goals. Effective feedback encourages employees to be involved at work. Learn more in Request and share feedback about a Goal.

5.10. Publicly praise the Goal owner

Public praise is a feature that allows employees to give positive feedback to their colleagues or team members for their work and contributions.  Learn more in Publicly praise the Goal owner.

5.11. Clone a Goal

Cloning a Goal allows you to copy the Goal details and Key Results and edit them as required. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal

5.12. Delete a Goal

You can delete any Goals if they are not required. Learn more in Manage the Top Level Goal

Note: Deleting a Goal may impact the progress of dependent Goals, if any.

6. Manage widgets

You can add and remove any widget from the dashboard and perform the following actions:

  • Enable and disable widgets
  • Reorder widgets
  • Reset widgets

Navigate to Admin > Goals > Dashboard.

6.1. Enable and disable widgets

Enabling and disabling widgets allows the dashboard to be customized as required.

6.2. Reorder widgets

Reordering widgets provides flexibility in arranging the content in the dashboard.

6.3. Reset widgets

Resetting widgets will restore the dashboard to its default view.

7. Nudge anyone in the organization without Goals

You can nudge Members, Business Units, and Departments without Goals. All members and their respective managers, business units, and department admins will be notified to create the individual, business unit, and department Goals. Navigate to Admin > Goals > Dashboard.

8. View and export the Goals report

You can view and export all the Goals reports based on the Business Unit, Department, Status Distribution, Goal Alignment, Top Category, and Check-In Health. Learn more in View and export Goals reports from the dashboard.
